In early June the atmosphere can be moist and mysterious. The summer’s abundant growth is only a suggestion, and the watery reflections are still crisp and luminous – no choking duckweed or pickerelweed yet. Even the most ordinary places can seem ethereal.
The more I study this inland pond, the more I see a correspondence to qualities I found while painting the sea. Rhythm and movement, the sense that something is slipping away, all are part of the pond also, though in a more subtle form. Future paintings will explore this further. Enjoy!
