The Tide’s Delirium depicts the morning after a storm, with the tide still flinging itself at the coast. Painting this type of movement requires a balance of detail and blur. The crisp “textures” are achieved with a bristle brush, while the hypnotic and graceful rhythms are painted with a nylon brush “smudged” by dragging a softer brush over the strokes. The spindrift along the top of the breaking wave is an example of this dragging. Enjoy!
