A Song for the Long Notes

TM8246 Song for the Long Notes 36×54 oil on panel

Waves come in many lengths. When I first saw the long reaches of the Cape Cod National Seashore, I felt a sense of wonder as I gazed left, right, and out to sea. The water was calm and the waves, beach and dunes seemed to go on forever. There was a languorous feel to the long vistas and the slowly rising fog bank, as if the place were singing a slow song, with notes stretched and held, then finally released into the atmosphere in a slow drift.  Song for the Long Notes, with  its muted key and long horizontals, interprets the feeling and space of that first impression. Enjoy!
