There are certain places that (quietly) call out to be painted again and again. This rocky point leading into a lake is one of those places. I love the sense of distance and intimacy. I love the “moderateness” of the place – no extremes of activity or geology, but a good place for listening and thinking. A quiet retreat. A previous painting titled “Listening for Loons” featured the same point. This time, I used a cooler palette but kept the almost spiritual quiet so specific to the locale. And of course I added the water lilies of late summer. Enjoy!
