TM8400 After Rain 36×40 oil on panel

A new camera can bring closer views, and this interpretation of the pond after rain features a close-up of two lilies. My goals were to keep the feeling of disturbed reflections and slightly submerged lily pads while concentrating the focus on the lilies.  The cool, blue violets reinforce the sense that the temperature was cool.  I tried to let more of the under painting show through, to imply movement in the water.  I must admit that I just loved the energy of the emerging bud.
