End-of-season lily pads take on a range of colors, as if their supporting role of enhancing the lilies could only become more important. I find the repeating ovals of pads, reflections, and petals feels almost art deco. Even the gray, gold, violet, and red hues seem like thy are from another era. Part of the charm of working on these small lily portraits is the opportunity to explore new approaches to design and color, I think it’s also important to honor the individuality of each flower.
