This is the time of year when I learn again the beauty of humble gray in all its permutations. My Gray Flannel Sea is all about variations on gray and what gray means to me – a quiet, steady, dependable color that finds a way to work with every other color you can introduce it to. It is also about enjoying a place like an old friend – the friend who stops to chat on the way to the grocery store, the neighbor who feeds the birds every morning and can tell you stories about each pigeon, the person you can count on when you need to borrow a spice or special baking utensil for a new recipe. It’s an easy familiarity that is too easily taken for granted. Like flannel in winter, My Gray Flannel Sea is a comfort for the eye and will always be there, offering balm for the nerves and a constancy of rhythm few things in life can provide. Detail below. Enjoy.
Well tailored!
Thank you Gregorio – always gratifying when the the painting’s allusions are “caught”.
