A Pair of Yellows

Continuing my studies of color and technique, these two fall views explore both the color yellow and share a reliance on shape over line in their description of nature. I wanted an “open” feeling, which the flowing shapes of color provide. The yellows of Into the Woods #37 lean to the golden and warm tints, while  Coming Out of the Woods #4 tends toward the cooler greenish yellows. To provide interest and depth, both paintings use grayed violets to complement the yellows (mixtures containing dioxazine violet and Venetian red plus umbers). Enjoy.
