TM8953 So Fine a Day 7×7 oil on paper
I always have a few projects in the works, and one of them is investigating potential ideas for reflection paintings. I usually work out themes and palettes on primed watercolor paper over the course of a few days. The best ones will probably serve as inspiration for something bigger. The five paintings presented here are looking forward to the greener months. They were inspired by photos from a small canal with overarching vegetation that runs beside the studio building. I check it every day. Enjoy.

Thank you Kathy. I’m trying some new color ideas, which you’ve picked up on so well. I’m hoping the new studies will yield some larger, more “open” feeling paintings. One is nearly finished, another started – if only there were more hours in the day.
These are superb. I notice you call one ‘Wind in the willow’ you obviously know the book. Did you know that in that context a “wind” is pronounced as to “wind” a ball of wool? A wind on a canal was a large pool where a long barge could be turned around (wound around) at the end of its run to go back again. A perfect place for Ratty and Mole to reside, and a great place for you to get inspiration for your wonderful paintings.
