One thing leads to another, and Dancing with Red October is the result of all the experimenting I’ve been doing with new tools (the soft rubber roller, scraper) and a renewed interest in line. Again, my goal was to catch the dancing quality of leaves rustling in the wind. Working in the larger size allows for more playful line work, and provides a feeling of immersion in the leaves. I always dreamed of having a treehouse – in a way, it’s becoming real. Details below. Enjoy.
Technical painting notes: Some of the line work was done using a silicone scraper to remove paint, while some lines used a flexible nylon flat (brush) to draw the linear elements. Some spattering was used to suggest dust in the breeze, and to give depth to the space
This one is quite large. It must be so stunning in real life. Really love your paintings.
Thank you Aletha.
