These two small paintings are interpretations of a yellow tree I saw last fall. Both are close-up views. I like to pretend I’m in the tree, experiencing its rustle and the crisp smell of the leaves. Perhaps it’s my way to get into the heart of the tree, its arboreal soul. When I paint these small tree studies, I feel more connected to the spirit of “treeness.” Perhaps a series of paintings about the spirit of trees is developing?
