With the Cosmos Series of oils, I let photographs from the Hubble Telescope inspire my imagination. I started the series with watercolor and colored pencil paintings, executed while I was teaching watercolor classes at the Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Massachusetts. The newer oil on panel cosmos paintings are a continuation of the series, using the techniques developed for the water music paintings. Inevitably, work in one area informs something next.
